Pulastic flooring is a trade name for the quality and performance leading synthetic athletic flooring surface made by Robbins Sports Surfaces. Pulastic flooring is a poured urethane material typically installed on a resilient subfloor to provide shock absorption, safety, and ball bounce characteristics required for the sport applications. It is a durable, maintenance free surface that has multi sport and event uses. Most clients install synthetic flooring as an alternative to wood sports flooring to increase the variety of uses of the facility, to save money, to emulate the play of a competition wood floor and to reduce lifetime maintenance costs.
Typical applications are gymnasium floors, recreation centers, field houses, elementary school combination gymnasium/cafeteria, running tracks, and community centers. It is an economical sports floor that performs equal to or superior to rubber floors and wood floors in sports venues.
The photo below shows a Pulastic flooring running track fused to a wood gymnasium floor in a community recreation center field house. Our client wanted to host high profile basketball, volleyball and track events while maintaining the flexibility to use the rec center for a broad variety of community events.
Shown below is another athletic flooring fusion of maple wood and synthetic pulastic flooring installed by Anderson Ladd in a college university athletic facility. The goal of this project was to provide access to students and the community for a wide variety of recreational and competitive sports including basketball, volleyball, tennis and track. The pulastic flooring serves all sports in this facility without compromising the ball bounce, safety, durability and grip characteristics required for competitive volleyball and basketball play.
Pulastic is commonly used in elementary schools in lieu of vinyl VCT tile to increase durability and playability.
University field houses outfitted with Pulastic provide space for competitive events like track as well as space for a wide variety of recreational sports. Pulastic floors are designed to handle the wear from running spikes.
Many other applications exist and Anderson Ladd can assist you with your plans for your facility.
