Players, teams, coaches, fans and parents are happy when their favorite team performs well, improves, and plays with confidence. A well designed basketball court can help. How? How does a player or a fan feel when they enter an arena, or a gymnasium and first set eyes on the basketball court? If the first court impressions are quality, high performance, and energy the motivation of the players and fans will match those first impressions.
Gymnasiums and recreation centers are facilities full of activity. Finding the right equipment is essential. There is a wide range of equipment for your basketball court, from stationary backstops to fully adjustable electronic systems. Many facilities accommodate athletes of all ages from youth to adults and even professionals. Therefore, basketball backstops, backboards and rims must be adaptable, sturdy and maintenance free every day. Backstops are heavy, mechanical pieces of equipment that are often hung from a gymnasium or activity center ceiling. They have many moving parts including motors, pivoting clamps, winches, winch cables, safety straps, motor controllers, computer programmed control pads, height adjusters, etc. Today’s basketball backstops are controlled in sync with all other athletic equipment in the facility by ipad tablets.
Basketball backstops aren’t the only equipment you typically have in a gymnasium. You may also use the space for volleyball, racquetball, or other types of athletic court sports. Many times it’s important to be able to section off areas of the gym for different sports played simultaneously. Gym divider curtains are perfect for making any space flexible. Turn your gym into 4 separate courses quickly and easily with electronic curtain systems. All Porter athletic equipment, sold by Anderson Ladd, can be made to work together to turn any basketball court into a volleyball court in minutes.
When it comes to basketball court floors there’s unlimited options. On the surface there’s hardwood or synthetic to choose from. Hardwood comes in multiple types, colors, and grades. Or maybe you decided you need something more versatile, so you go with synthetic. After that choice comes the various types of subfloor. Trying to keep everything straight can be a bit tricky. Once you know you’re in the market for a new gym floor one of the first things you should do is discuss your needs with a consultant. A professional knows the right questions to ask to make sure the floor you choose will last for years and years.
