Athletic facilities, community activity centers and convention centers are large spaces that often need to be divided to separate playing courts. Gym divider curtains play an important role as a physical, sight, sound, and safety barrier in athletic facilities. Divider curtains and walls come in a variety of sizes and styles to fit the needs of the facility. Materials are typically solid vinyl or half mesh and half vinyl for air and light circulation in the gymnasium. Divider curtains can be customized to fit any space. Our team of designers will work with your facility owners or architects to fit the curtains to your building specs.
Curtains are typically ceiling mounted but can be track mounted for hand, walk-draw operation. The least expensive ceiling mounted gym curtains are simple foldup designs that require a lot of space at the ceiling. These curtains are not as durable as rollup due to the folding stress as they raise and lower. Gym divider curtains that roll up in two directions from a center batten are the most durable and operate twice as fast as others. They also roll into the most compact ceiling position. Roll up are recommended for all ceiling heights below 30 feet where ceiling clearance is an issue for volleyball and basketball.
Not all gym divider curtains move up and down. While rolling and folding curtains make changing spaces convenient, sometimes a curtain can be used to permanently separate a space. An example of this is a pay for play space in Texas, Fieldhouse USA, that wanted their courts separated, but didn’t want to disrupt the feel of a wide open space. The 6 foot high custom curtains serve as a safety and sight barrier without compromising the feel of a large facility.
